Woman’s Head as a Snuffbox
Meissen, mid-18th century
Height: 5.7 cm
Gold mount
Plastically modelled and finely painted female head with expressive facial features and blue eyes – in Meissen porcelain of this period an indication of a portrait of a specific individual. The hair is covered by a white cap; amethyst-coloured earrings and a delicately rendered lace ruff accentuate the decoration.
The interior of the lid is decorated with a scene of four figures before a garden monument.
