The scene in the lid shows Thalia - the tutelary goddess of comedy, at her side the young harlequin in a diamond costume and a flatbed. The box is in every respect comparable with the famous snuff box signed by Herold for August III (porcelain collection in the Zwinger, Dresden Inv. No. PE 1536, Palace No. 303 Boltz section a).
