Description

The Boucher painting was engraved by Piere Surugue and published by his father Pierre Louis in 1742 (Jean-Richard: L’OEuvre gravé de François Boucher p. 383 f. no. 1591).

The same scene can be found on a box in the Coll. Joseph (exhibition cat. Rijksmuseum Amsterdam 1988 no. 49 p. 99 = Beaucamp-Markowsky no. 179). Beaucamp-Markowsky attributes the painting to J. M. Heinrici, who has been working in the manufactory since 1742 and is known as the leading miniaturists in Meissen. There is a similar box with the coat of arms of Alexander Heinrich von Siepmann, Minister of the Saxon Court in Berlin (Beaucamp-Markowsky no. 152).
