Kaendler created the mother monkey teapot in 1735. It is noted in his work record of July 1735 (Pietsch, Arbeitsberichte p. 33 no. 11): ‘Teapot in the shape of a monkey, with a baby on its back and another held in its arms in front, from which the tea is poured. It is corrected and in proper order. It sits on a small pedestal base and is fastened to it by a padlock and chain’
