100 Years Porcelain and faience of the 18th Century

1919 – Elfriede Langeloh

In 1919, Elfriede Langeloh opened her antique shop in Cologne. During her lifetime, the company was first located on Cäcilienstraße, then at Domhof, and finally, after its destruction during the war, on Hohenstaufenring. From the beginning, the focus was on German porcelain and faience of the 18th century.

The business, driven by great dedication and expertise, made Elfriede Langeloh renowned far beyond Germany's borders. Her clients included major collectors such as Ernst Schneider (now Schloss Lustheim, Bavarian National Museum), Peter Ludwig, Max Grundig, Edward Pflueger, and Ralph Wark (now Cummer Museum of Art and Gardens, Jacksonville, Florida).

1963 – Paulette Neuhaus

After Elfriede Langeloh passed away, her daughter Paulette Neuhaus took over the business in 1963 and moved it to more centrally located premises on Komödienstraße. As the oldest and most traditional antique business of its kind in Germany, it remained an international meeting point for collectors, experts, and curators. The extraordinary personality of Paulette Neuhaus is fondly remembered by many antique collectors.

1981 - Friedel Kirsch

With the same passion, Friedel Kirsch continues to run the business today, now in the third generation, since 1981 in Weinheim near Heidelberg. The specialization in exceptional, museum-quality porcelains and faiences of the 18th century, especially from the Meissen manufactory, continues to be intensively cultivated and developed. With the involvement of her children, the fourth generation is now ensuring the continued existence of the family business Elfriede Langeloh.

Elfriede Langeloh participated in numerous art fairs: at the Ceramic Fair London, the Art Fair Salzburg (Residenz), exhibitions of the German Art Dealers Association in Cologne, Düsseldorf, Hanover, and Munich, as well as at the ‘Orangerie’ Schloss Charlottenburg in Berlin.
