Large early bowl, paitned by Johann G. Höroldt

Ø 18 cm / H. 8.4 cm / Meissen 1722 (before the mark)

This large bowl is an early work by Höroldt, who came to Meissen in 1720. The pale, as yet unfinished colours, the exotic merchant scenes among foreign nations with Indian and Mongolian influences, the simple gold borders by George Funcke, the cartouche borders by Höroldt in two shades of iron red (without purple), the dense pale light blue clouds with red and yellow tones and the flocks of birds, the scene in the base of the bowl painted entirely in iron red - all these are characteristic features of Höroldt's early work.
