The plate is part of the service for the Savoy Grand Chancellor and Minister of State Carlo Francesco Vincenzo Ferrero (1680-1745), Marchsese d'Ormea. It marks the transition from the "Indianische Blumen" – which were standard in Meissen until the early 1740s – to the so-called ‘ombrierte Holzschnittblumen.‘
