Meissen beaker with saucer, painted with early seascapes

Böttger Porcelain, Meissen c. 1724 / 25. ‘Kauffahrtei’ scenes in the style of Johann Friedrich Herold. Gilded initial ‘T’ on both pieces

Cup: 7,8 cm high; Ø 3,5 cm (bottom) u. 7,5 cm (top); underglaze blue swords mark, collection label "Karl Keller"; saucer: Ø 14 cm; 2 cm high, three iron-red rings on the backside

Comparative pieces: Carabelli Collection (Pietsch 2000 fig. 74 p. 168 f.) cup from the same service with gold initial "T"; The Wark Collection (Pietsch 2011 fig. 384 p. 346) beaker with similar painting; Four other cups with saucers and gold initial "T" were sold in 1969 at Christie's auction (24.03. No. 6, 7); A coffee pot with very similar painting is in the Städtische Kunstsammlungen, Augsburg (Rückert 1966 No. 201 plate 56)
